I created every aspect of this book for my MS Environmental Studies thesis at the University of Oregon.

The book makes a case for the role of trail-less wilderness as one end of the spectrum of public land management, exploring the unique challenges and learning opportunities it provides.

  • Wrote all text.
  • Designed book layout.
  • Created page layouts in InDesign.
  • Imported, analyzed, and arranged geospatial data in Illustrator using Avenza MAPublisher and Natural Scene Designer.
  • Created maps and infographics in Illustrator.
  • Created shaded relief and other background imagery in Photoshop using Avenza Geographic Imager.
  • Took all photographs.
  • Performed field research in Denali National Park and Preserve over the course of three summers while working as a guide and environmental educator.
